. >> i think he'll -- he could have done better. >> i think that president obama is -- needs to put his gloves on and fight back. >> i didn't know what was quite going on as far as, you know, maybe he is dealing with some crisis in the middle east. >> i think maybe he needs to rest. >> again, those were people that showed up for the president's rally in denver. all right. back to the breaking news of the morning. today's september report shows a bunch of things. a dramatic drop of the unemployment rate from 8.1% to 7.8%, the first time it has fallen below 8% since the president took office. so how do we get there? the economy added 114,000 jobs last month but in addition the labor department revised july and august numbers to show that 86,000 more jobs were added than previously thought. total unemployment rose by 873,000 jobs last month. that's the biggest one-month increase in nearly 30 years. and today's report snapped a string of 43 straight months of unemployment over 8%. now there's just one more report, jobs report out before the election. mark zandi is the chief economist for mo
